Union Station

The major rail hub in the nation’s capital, historic Union Station is on Capitol Hill at 50 Massachusetts Avenue, NE. The station is located on the District of Columbia Metro subway system Red Line. Amtrak service is available at Union Station, as well as Maryland and Virginia commuter rail service. The United States Capitol is within walking distance. The station also has a parking deck, and mall and food court. Store and food court hours will vary January 17 – 20 due to Inauguration related events.

Car

2,194 spaces are currently available in the Union Station Parking Garage. The garage is multi-tiered and has elevators, escalators and stairwells for easy access to the Shops, Restaurants and Transportation services at Union Station (Amtrak, MARC, VRE, Gray Line / Gold Line, Old Town Trolley, DC Ducks and Tourmobile).

Parking is available 24/7. Access is available from Massachusetts Avenue, NE – from a ramp on the East side of Union Station and from H Street, NE. No reserved parking. Phone: 202.898.1950.

Motorcoach (bus) / Recreational vehicle parking is available in the attached parking garage for vehicles with a 12'7" clearance. There are 90 bus spaces available daily on a first come, first serve basis.

Parking is available 24/7. Access is available from Massachusetts Avenue, NE – from a ramp on the East side of Union Station and from H Street, NE.
Bus parking may be reserved by contacting the garage office directly on 202.898.1950 .

From The North (via I-95)

Follow I-95 South toward Washington, DC to I-495 and exit East.

Follow I-495 East to US Route 50 and exit West.
Follow US Route 50, which becomes New York Avenue.
Follow New York Avenue (West).
Turn Left onto First Street, NE.
Follow First Street approximately 12 blocks to Massachusetts Avenue.
Turn left unto Massachusetts Avenue, NE and travel one block to Columbus Circle.
Union Station is on the Left.

From The South (via I-95 / I-395)

Follow I-95 North toward Washington, DC.
I-95 becomes I-395 when you cross I-495. Continue North on I-395.
Exit at Massachusetts Avenue.
Turn Right onto Massachusetts Avenue (East).
Follow Massachusetts Avenue approximately 4 blocks to Columbus Circle.
Union Station is on the Left.

From The East (via US Route 50)

Follow US Route 50, which becomes New York Avenue.
Follow New York Avenue (West).
Turn Left onto First Street, NE.
Follow First Street approximately 12 blocks to Massachusetts Avenue.
Turn left unto Massachusetts Avenue and travel one block to Columbus Circle.
Union Station is on the Left.

From The West (via The Capital Beltway / I-495)

Follow The Capital Beltway.
Exit New Hampshire Avenue (South).
Follow New Hampshire Avenue, which turns into North Capitol Street.
Turn Left on Massachusetts Avenue.
Follow Massachusetts Avenue 1 bock to Columbus Circle.

From The West (via I-66)

Follow I-66 East towards Washington, DC.
Exit US 50 (East).
Turn Right on Pennsylvania Avenue.

Special Automobile Travel Restrictions

Access TO Reagan National is available via U.S. Route 1 in Virginia. Private vehicles will not be allowed on the George Washington Memorial Parkway.
Access FROM Reagan National is restricted on the northbound George Washington Memorial Parkway. Private vehicles may exit the Airport to Route 1, north or south, or southbound on the George Washington Memorial Parkway.

From Virginia:

Dulles International Airport (Airport Symbol: IAD)

Dulles International Airport is located in Chantilly, Virginia about 26 miles from downtown Washington, D.C. The airport features 143 gates and nonstop travel to 88 domestic and 42 international destinations. In 2007 the airport had 24.7 million passengers pass through its terminals.

Special Automobile Travel Restrictions

Access TO Dulles is unrestricted outside the Capital Beltway (I-495).
Access FROM Dulles to Washington is restricted inside the Capital Beltway (I-495). Private vehicles eastbound on the Dulles Airport Access Highway will be diverted on to the Capital Beltway, north or south, and not be allowed to proceed further eastbound on the Access Highway.

From Downtown Washington DC:

Go west on I-66 to exit 67. Follow signs to the airport, approximately 16 miles from exit 67.

From Baltimore:

Go south on I-95 to exit 27 (I 495 West - "The Beltway") to exit 45A. Follow signs to the airport, approximately 13 miles from exit 45A.

From Richmond:

Go north on I-95 to exit 170 (I 495 - "The Beltway") to exit 45. Follow signs to the airport, approximately 13 miles from exit 45.

From West Virginia:

Go south on I-81 to I-66 East. I-66 East to exit 53 (Rt. 28 North). Follow Route 28 to airport.

From Roanoke, Southwest Virginia:

Go north on I-81 to I-66 East. Follow I-66 East to exit 53 (Rt. 28 North). Follow Route 28 to airport.


The Dulles Access Highway is restricted to airport use only. All vehicles on the Access Highway must be going to or coming from Dulles Airport on airport business.

Visitors to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum at Dulles should use Route 50 West to Route 28 North or the Dulles Toll Road to route 28 South.



Thurgood Marshall BWI Airport

Thurgood Marshall Baltimore Washington International Airport is strategically located between Baltimore, Maryland and Washington, DC and is an approximately 30 minute ride on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway into the heart of the nation’s capital. The airport has 69 gates and handles 644 daily domestic and 16 nonstop international flights. In 2007 21 million passengers traveled through its terminals.

From Washington, DC:

Take New York Avenue to Baltimore/Washington Parkway; follow the Parkway (295) north to I-195 and BWI. From north and west DC, you can take the Washington Beltway (495) east to I-95, heading north to I-195 and take the BWI exit. You may ride Amtrak, MARC, or connect to the BWI Express Metro Bus to BWI. Check out our Washington, DC ground transportation page for more information.

From Richmond and South:

Take I-95 North toward Washington, DC. Though it is shorter to stay on I-95, traffic may make it faster to follow I-495 (Washington Beltway) west, skirting DC and rejoining I-95 north of Washington, DC. Head on north I-95 to I-195 and the BWI exit. You may also take I-95 to Route 301, which turns into Route 3 and then I-97. Follow the signs to BWI. Or you may take Amtrak direct to BWI.

From Baltimore:

Take Russell Street, which becomes the Baltimore/Washington Parkway (295). Follow the Parkway south to I-195 and BWI. Or, follow the signs from Downtown/Inner Harbor and take I-395 to I-95 south (Washington, DC); proceed to I-195 and take the exit to BWI. Or you can take the Light Rail direct to BWI.

From Philadelphia and Northeast:

Follow I-95 South (marked Washington, DC) through Fort McHenry Tunnel. Continue on I-195, taking the BWI Airport exit. You may also choose Baltimore’s Harbor Tunnel on I-895, connecting with the Baltimore/Washington Parkway (295) South to I-195. Follow signs to BWI. Or you may take Amtrak directly to BWI.

From Wilmington and Delaware:

Follow I-95 South (marked Washington, DC) through Fort McHenry Tunnel. Continue on I-195, taking the BWI Airport exit. You may also choose Baltimore’s Harbor Tunnel on I-895, connecting with the Baltimore/Washington Parkway (295) South to I-195. Follow signs to BWI. Or you may take Amtrak directly to BWI.
