In a cross between a 2-year old child’s tantrum upon being denied candy and a driver being denied a coveted parking space after waiting patiently only to have another motorist “steal” the spot, supporters of Mitt Romney are exhibiting the voter equivalent of road rage. Unable to bring themselves to accept the fact that the nation expressed confidence in President Obama and rejected their candidate, many Romney supporters are becoming unhinged and unintelligible in their irrational reaction to their candidate’s defeat. Social media has been abuzz with patently racist messages and tweets slurring the President, with one interactive map showing the point of origin of racist twitter posts. The messages posted in response to many newspaper articles on the election have also had their share of hate speech.

While a fair amount of resentment and despair always takes root among those supporting the losing side of a presidential election, what we are witnessing in the days after the President’s victory is a complete meltdown. Judging by the reaction of the GOP farm team at the Fox News Channel the apocalypse is right around the corner.

The letdown of voters who invested time and energy in a losing candidate is to be expected. What is troubling and downright sinister is how some pro-GOP business owners are using the election as an excuse to punish workers, some of whom might have even pulled the lever for Mitt Romney. Take the case of Robert Murray, CEO of Murray Energy in Ohio. He called his staff together, said a prayer and then fired 156 workers; blaming President Obama’s policy on coal. Murray canned 54 workers at American Coal and 102 at Utah Coal. The New Republic has reported that Murray forced workers to attend a Romney rally in southeastern Ohio in August, and his company has given more than $1.4 million to Republican candidates seeking federal office since 2007.

We are certain Murray’s company provides a rather comfortable home for him and his family, owns a corporate jet and affords its executives limousine service, and generously compensates its executives and offers hefty “performance” bonuses. Rather than cut expenses, in the spirit of all that Republicans claim to represent, Murray opted to cut people. He did so in an act of vengeance and rage over his candidate losing the election. Then, to try to mask his irrational behavior the coal titan pointed the finger at President Obama. It is a bush league move by Murray and one that has payback written all over it. We hope the U.S. Department of Justice will look into Mr. Murray’s actions since we believe the dismissed workers have had their voting rights violated.

Murray, like Donald Trump, is so detached from reality that they truly believe that not only white men can’t jump, rich white men can’t lose. In their bizarre world they set all the rules and dictate the living conditions and personal circumstances of all the bottom feeders. Anything less than total control and these brats become apoplectic in their self-pity and loathing.

Making matters worse is Murray using the Bible as a defense shield. Reading a prayer before mercilessly firing workers should earn this guy first-class accommodations in hell; or so we pray it will. Republicans shameless Bible jacking reveals not only their total lack of morality, but also their despicable use of God to justify their abominable behavior exposes the resident evil that lurks within them. Their only purpose is to control capital, exploit the labor of others and maximize their economic advantage by any means necessary. Anything or anyone that gets crushed along the way is simply collateral damage, the cost of doing business.

We expected to see some foolishness following an Obama victory but this degree of pettiness has even caught us by surprise. As if they did not embarrass themselves on election night, these vote rage fanatics are earning jackass status. As with companies that threatened workers to prevent them from casting ballots for the President, workers and consumers should unite and bring their operations to a standstill. This corrosive behavior is a product of the Citizen United ruling that has opened the door for corporate harassment in the name of free speech. It is our hope that people will take on the likes of Murray and Trump with their wallets and pocketbooks, since money is the only thing that has any impact upon these soulless heathens.
